My first was at age 41 - delivered just before I turned 42 years old.

My daughter was conceived without trying.

In fact, we were using birth control at the time - so it's not impossible.

I got pregnant with my last child at 43 years old and turned 44 a month after he was born.

I have basically not used birth control since he was 4 months old, he is now 19 months and I am 45 years old.

We have been TTC [Trying to Conceive] but now I have accepted that Liam is probably my last.

He is my fifth child and was conceived naturally.

I wouldn’t seek medical intervention as if we have another, it is meant to be.

I am now 6 weeks pregnant at 45 years old.

Don't give up, you never know!

Although I'd recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and cutting way back on caffeine and alcohol (although I didn't!).

I am 45 years old, and discovered I am pregnant the day before Thanksgiving.

Last year I had a "missed abortion" after seven weeks, and we've been trying for 15 months!

I never wanted children until my 5 year-old nephew appeared!

I was just about to change my insurance coverage when I took the test.

I know there is a 50/50 chance of miscarriage again, but I want to encourage you to try, since I squeaked by at the 5 percent rate!

Some encouraging news!

My dear friend from college, 43 years old, had her baby last night.

A healthy perfect 8 lb little girl! She has a 7 year old daughter, has suffered numerous early losses, and a stillbirth two years ago.

She had testing done about a year ago and was on Lovenox and high doses of Folic Acid throughout her pregnancy, but other than a lot of close monitoring, her pregnancy was uneventful.

My midwife has a patient that's pregnant and 47 years old... 48 at delivery.

I asked her if next time I'm pregnant, if my age would be a factor on whether she could take me as a patient or not.

That's when she told me about this woman she'd just seen that day.

I told her that I knew some people that will want to hear about this one!

She also told me this is the woman's FIRST pregnancy!

I thought that made it even more spectacular.

Dr. Lewis presents a groundbreaking alternative approach to infertility, explaining how she used traditional Chinese medicine to treat her own infertility, successfully conceiving and giving birth to two children.

In Lewis's experience, women who have undergone three to six months of the dietary changes, herbs and acupuncture treatments become pregnant with no further effort.

Lewis intersperses her somewhat technical examination of the program with anecdotes about her patients, weaving in discussions on diet, herbal supplements, acupuncture, older women and problems related to infertility.

My nurse practitioner called, and while we were discussing my instructions, she thought to tell me about another patient she had seen that day (without revealing the patient's name, of course).

Her 45-year-old patient is pregnant -- naturally.

This woman had her first child, now three, at age 42.

Her FSH [follicle stimulating hormone] in July 2005 was 16.

About 3 months ago, my nurse practitioner also mentioned to me a BFP [big fat positive - postive pregnancy test] she had called in that day to one of her 42-year-old IVF [in vitro fertilization] patients.

I asked yesterday how that woman was doing, and was told that she had made it through her first trimester and is doing fine.

Did any one see the TV show "Special Delivery" a few days ago?

There was a woman, 48 years old, hadn't had a period in 2 years, and was pregnant.

She didn't even know she was pregnant until she was 6 months along (she thought her menopause was "acting up").

She gave birth, at term and naturally, to a very healthy baby girl. It was her first child.

She had never been pregnant before. Amazing!

My doctor says it is like rolling a die once each month. Sooner or later you are bound to roll your lucky number, and everything will be perfect with the baby.

He told me about one of his patients who rolled badly 6 times and on the seventh roll, boom, her lucky number.

Now, she started TTC [trying to conceive] at 41 years old, and did not give birth to her healthy little boy until she was 47 but she did it. And naturally.

Image: Infertility and Adoption: A Husband and Father's Perspective, by Roy Sokol. Publisher: Rosedog Pr (January 3, 2012)Infertility and Adoption: A Husband and Father's Perspective
by Roy Sokol

-- Roy Sokol offers men a chance to be heard and women a rare opportunity to view the struggle with infertility from a male perspective.

Infertility and Adoption: A Husband and Father's Perspective brings to life the frustration, anger, humor, heartbreak, and sense of helplessness and a mental philosophy learned in Marine Corps training that helps in overcoming the psychological barriers.

While miracles in technology have brought joy to new families, those very advances have placed many couples into a spiraling cycle of hope and heartbreak.

One failed attempt may lead to another, but how do you give up when there is always another doctor, another procedure holding the possibility of your dream for a family?

Roy Sokol has captured the emotional turmoil he and his wife, Elizabeth, endured as they tried to conceive, the years their lives were put on hold, and the excruciating sense of loss and finally great happiness.

He writes too of the couple's journey through the bewildering world of adoption - a path to parenthood fraught with financial, legal, and emotional risks of its own.
