My friend is 43 years old, and pregnant with her first child.

We met at my IVF [in vitro fertilization] clinic - in the waiting room last year.

We were both waiting to go in for egg transfer, her first cycle and my second cycle, we both got BFN's [big fat negatives - negative pregnancy test].

We exchanged numbers that day and have become great friends.

A year later, we both struck lucky on our third cycle:

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant - third IVF (I am 41 years old)
She is 8 weeks pregnant - third IVF

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
