I can't relate to being an over 50 years old mom, but I'm the daughter of an over 50 mom.

I'm child number seven, arriving when my mom was 55 years old, and her second menopause baby!

Most of our nieces and nephews were older than us, except two were born within eight months of me!

My sisters said what was weird was being pregnant when Mom was, and she didn't go crazy over the grand-kids as much as their in-laws did.

I was so lucky to have my mom for 40 years after my birth.

My older kids loved her sooo much.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I'm over 50 and expecting #12 later this year! I had my first at age 17. And I'm a grandmother. I've only had 2 C-sections for my 2nd and 5th child, all the rest natural. This will be my third over-50 baby, and I'm not yet 55. However, my hair is a fair mixture of light brown with lots of graying. I do look my age, and feel my age, and I'm fine with that, I can still push out a baby and growl through contractions so I think I'm good. I'm just about 19 weeks along. My husband and I don't mind that we're still popping out babies as our older kids are at the same time. Sometimes in families kids are the same ages, or older as their uncles and aunts. We have never planned or prevented any pregnancy. I think I take after a couple of great women in my family. My aunt on my father's side had her 8th at 52, and my maternal great-grand-mother is recorded to have her last at 56, her 13th child. There is a woman in my small town who has a 12 year old, and whose granddaughter is 23 and expecting. This means her daughter is going to be a great-aunt at 12! Amazing! Love bonding with other old moms. This is exciting to see sites like this who promote older moms, even those of us who are carrying around big baby bellies at 50+.

I am 46 and just found out that I am pregnant. I have 3 children 7, 11, & 12 I gave birth to and 2 other stepchildren who are grown and 3 grandchildren (one who is not living anymore). I have alot of memory problems so I have been trying to take things good to improve memory and I read where coq10 coenzyme and fish oil and ginkgo biloba was good for that so I had been taking those religiously for a couple of years and putting it in my husbands medicine. Well I suddenly come up pregnant after him using a condom around ovulation only and other times not so safe but I told him that we had such a little chance of getting pregnant that it could not happen. He will be 59 this year and I am just wondering if anyone out there has had this happen as a result of the coq10 enzyme. I have since seen so many fertility sites that promote that as a fertility booster. I think they should put it as a warning on the label or some way to tell people this could be a result.

Hello there, this all sounds interesting. I am 47 and not using protection for the last 6 months. I hear it is almost impossible to get pregnant at my age. I have heard that the likely hood of conceiving a cold late in life put the baby at risk for intellectual disabilities or autism and such. Have you experienced anything like that with your children?

  6. Having a baby at any point in your life puts the baby at risk for intellectual disabilities or autism, etc.
Do your chances increase as you age? Yes, but not by as much as they would have us think...

I am now married to my 26 yr old husband and fell pregnant two months into dating him.
I think I get pregnant coz I am always with younger men!
