Long line of women who birthed late

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, September 13, 2011 | 0 comments

I laugh when people say older women "don't have the energy" it takes to raise a child. But I come from a long line of women who birthed late (54 for one grandmother) and live dynamic lives.

I also go to the gym 5 days a week and have the 60 and ups kicking my butt in aerobics, Pilates and weight-lifting. At 42 when I groan getting up and down from the floor they tell me "Listen little girl you are way to young to be making those noises."

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
