My sister's husband's parents were older when they had him... The doctors said she was barren because she had tried since they got married at 16....
By the time she hit 40 they gave up, she turned 50 they were looking into adoption, they adopted when she was 52....
But at 53, she got pregnant naturally (didn't know until she was 6-7 months along - thought it was menopause) and had him at 54.....
He's 37 almost 38, she's now 93 - both parents are still alive and living well and healthy and enjoy all there grandchildren now..... So they've had a really good outcome to having a child at a later age.....

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I agree--it reminds me of Abraham and Sarah and miracles happen every day. Each baby is a miracle, even at 23, so why not at a later age?
