I am 49 and 25 weeks pregnant. It was a total surprise.

The baby boy is due the day before my oldest turns 27. I also have a 25 & a 16 year old.

I was planning for empty nest, not Romper Room, but God has plans we can see, so I am adjusting. I've been married for 28 years.

While I was not thrilled, he is having an even harder time adjusting to the idea. My mothering hormones are kicking in, but he is still in denial!

So far, easy pregnancy and by all available tests, a totally normal baby. Only 15 weeks to go. Will update after delivery.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
