I am 44 & 7 weeks pregnant

Image: Pregnant Patient Getting Ultrasound, by Medical PrudensI am 44 years old, and just found out I am seven weeks pregnant.

This will be my first biological child, although I do have a 14-year-old stepdaughter.

My husband and I feel very blessed.

We went through a round of fertility drugs in April, but because of a pre-planned vacation, we didn't take a thing in May.

Well, I guess the relaxation was just what we needed - because I confirmed my pregnancy almost three weeks ago when I missed my period.

Because of my age, I have had some great care and even saw a tiny heart flutter 3 days ago on an ultrasound.

My doctor told me once you see a heartbeat, your chance of miscarriage drops to 5%.

I am so happy!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
