I am 7 1/2w pregnant & 47 in October

Much to my astonishment I found out last Friday that I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant. I'm 46, and I'll be 47 in October. The baby is due November 21.

I'm thrilled, as this is my first pregnancy, and I didn't think I'd ever be able to get pregnant. But I'm also scared, because I've had no morning sickness, and I've read that could be a bad sign that the baby is not firmly attached in the uterus and I may miscarry.

I wondered whether you folks might know whether morning sickness might be less common in older first-time mothers like me? I have a lot of fears about this pregnancy.

It is a miracle, though. There's no doubt about that. Just being able to get pregnant at 46, that is!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I am so happy for you! Ask your doc right away for two things:
1. an ultrasound to find a heartbeat(oh, I hope you do!)

2. Progesterone shots or suppositories, just in case low prog. would end the pregnancy. If he's smart, he could check your levels, but he may not know how to read them or not trust that one even CAN determine this from a blood test.
At any rate, supplementation can't hurt, and might put you at ease, if you do miscarry, that prog wasn't the culprit.

I am 48 end of Feb.A month ago,
I miscarried at nine weeks a beautiful little embryo in his perfect sac. Very sad, but I gain so much hope realizing that it can indeed happen, having a baby this late or later!!.
