I think choices are greatly influenced by one's culture and upbringing. I'm from a culture where 3 or 4 generations can live in one home, and they do.
My grandfather was 80 when he had his last child, his wife was 55. There was nothing such as DE [donor egg] or ART [assisted reproductive technologies].
That girl (my aunt) is now 25, she is my mother's sister and my mother now is 80. My aunt got married last weekend, and the gathering was HUGE.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
