Happened countless times through history

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, January 01, 2008 | 0 comments

On the subject of babies born naturally to women in their mid/late 50's, I believe this could have happened countless times through history.

I have returned the book to the library now, but perhaps one of the ladies here has a copy of 'Birth Begins at 40'?

I'm sure there were several case study accounts in that of mothers becoming pregnant when they were going through menopause.

Some women can have periods well in to their 50's (my own mother being one), so surely it must be possible for women who are menstruating to also ovulate in their 50's?

Catherine

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
