I have friends who have delivered babies in their 40's (even a lady at 47) and all went well.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

  3. Maura - I am so sorry to hear of your two previous losses. To lose a baby at any age is hard enough. To lose a baby at 46+ can make you worry that you've lost your very last chance.

Reading this blog, you will find that are many women (even older than you) who have got pregnant without assistance, and went on to deliver successfully.

There is always hope, even if some of us might need more help than others. I will hope for your success, and a baby safely snuggled in your arms.

  4. Daisy - my best friend had her youngest child at 48, without assistance, while I was pregnant with mine.

Yes, it does happen. Keep reading the stories here, there is still hope, even at 47+ - as long as there are no medical issues preventing you from getting and staying pregnant.
