A 52 year old lady presenting with Pregnancy and Anemia

A 52 year old gravida 12 para 8 abortions 3, last child born 3 years back was admitted on her first antenatal visit at 37 weeks of pregnancy with complaints of dyspnea and headache for one week. Her history revealed that present pregnancy was un-eventful until now with no prior antenatal visits. All previous deliveries were at home.

Outcome was an alive and healthy male baby, weight :2.5kg with Apgar score of 8/10 and 10/10, handed over to paediatrician for evaluation of any abnormality. First post natal day ligation was done after couple counselling and consent. The mother and the baby were discharged on second post-natal day in satisfactory health.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
