A friend of mine works for a university and a professor there spoken to me about FSH and fertility. He seems to think that a lot of the time its due to poor results with high FSH that stops fertility clinics working with people over the age of 40 with high FSH.
He says that until your periods stop completely for twelve months you can get pregnant, and once pregnant the chances of miscarriage are the same as any 40 year old with or without high FSH. He says that when FSH is high, it stops you falling pregnant but this changes from month to month so on a lower FSH month that is when you can fall.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
