I know lots of women who've had babies in their late 40's

I know a lot of women who have had babies in their mid and late forties and I know they didn't do DE [donor egg] because
a) they don't have that kind of money and
b) they don't accept it on religious grounds and
c) they already have several children and didn't necessarily want or "need" another one.
I think that many people find it hard to believe that older women can get pregnant and have healthy babies because our RE's [reproductive endocrinologist] have convinced us that everyone's ovaries shut down at age 42. Not true!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
