I am 52 years old and 7 weeks pregnant. I feel healthy and happy. What is the likelihood of having a Downs Syndrome baby at age 52? I have found statistics for 45 years old, but nothing for age 52. The internet sites I have located assume that anyone over 50 will need to use donor eggs.

However I conceived by accident without any difficulty. My father's sister had a baby at 54. I had significant spotting at the time my period was due, but after that the pregnancy test was positive. - Mary

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
