After seven cycles of clomid, 1 IUI and four IVFs, at age 40 1/2, I got pregnant with twins. Needless to say, we were ecstatic. Once my beautiful baby girls were born, I became totally engrossed in their care. Fertility was the furthest thing from my mind.
When my girls were just over one year old, DH and I took a short vacation to recover from all the sleepless nights spent caring for our twins. I drank wine, stayed up late, even smoked cigars! Yes, you guessed it. I got pregnant. Our darling son was born when I was 43. In a matter of three years, I went from demoralized fertility patient to exuberant mother of three. I never imagined I could be so blessed. I hope you will be too.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
