I am 56 & just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl

Baby after 55 - Well, I just recently gave birth to a beautiful healthy 8 lbs baby girl. She is my fifth child. Her name is Sarah, and boy did she make my stomach HUGE for this one! And she was a surprise.

When I found out I was pregnant, I had been having strange mood swings, and sweating, and feeling light-headed. And I was nauseous off and on. We sure didn't realize I was pregnant. Not until I saw my doctor!

I am actually 56 years old, and yes we did think that it was either menopause or maybe even another health problem developing, but we were wrong!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
